Fauxpholster...it's a thing.

We have this chair.  It has mini rose flowers on a cornflower blue background, came from my ex-boyfriend's grandmother, and I'm sure it was really pretty when she got it (hoping, at least). In 2010, however? Nope, not cute. Let's cover it up, shall we?

Wingback chair with such fun bones.
--never thought i'd be a person to appreciate "furniture bones"--

I decided to use a curtain from our old place.

Please excuse the maniacal POM-POMS.
I entrusted someone to add a chocolate brown band to the existing off-white curtain and they took the liberty of adding strips of POM-POMS.

POM-POMS.

I mean, who POM-POMS without ASKING??

Tuck and staple. Tuck and staple.

I needed to get the cornflower out of there stat, but didn't want to spend so much time indoors yet. This is a temporary fix that will hopefully be more complete at some point down the line. Figure it could be a good project for the impending doom, right? I mean....winter.

Reject staples.
They didn't want to be a part of the chair.

Phew...no more mini flowers!

And because I'm not one to deceive y'all, here's a glance at the horribly unfinished back:
Bleagh!!
Fauxpholster!!

Wanna look at the front again?

Did I just add emphasis to the POM-POMS??
Is it normal to grow fond of the fuzzy things?

Sock giraffe seems comfy here.

the pom poms were meant for this chair. it's their destiny. your lovely cleaning man/woman knew that one day you'd need them for the hideous chair of your ex-boyfriend's gma.

For real, that is straight up HGTV. "Fauxpolstering with Leslie". I can see it now...

was i at your house the day the trim and the pom poms showed up? i remember it felt like shock when i saw them, so maybe you just recreated the scenario for me.

but either way, i liked 'em then and i like 'em now. i hope they make the final cut.

so, i really like the pom pom faux covering complete with the giraffe and owl. super cute! the back, not so much... but 2 q's:

1. why the heck do you have an ex-bf's gma's chair in the first place

2. where was that chair before and why is it just now getting a new cover?!?!

I am kindof a HUGE fan of the pom poms.

Thank you for showing us the back. made me feel much less of a loser. :)

LOVE it!

I am oddly liking the pom poms too! And why did I never try fauxpolstering this chair when it was in my possession? So much better. Nice work!

I kind of feel like fauxpolstering Tara's dad floral couch that we have now! The question is: pom poms or no pom poms?

And that answers one of @katherine's questions. The chair lived at my old apartment with Ali. When she was moving out of what we like to call our "move-in-single-move-out-basically-married" apartment, the chair lived with us, awkwardly shoved into a corner as can be seen right here.

In terms of why I have it in the first place, ex-boyf's mom wanted it out of her home and even back then (circa 2002?), I recognized its fun shape and wanted to play around. I think it came with an ottoman that I unsuccessfully attempted to reupholster. Its demise prevented me from touching the big chair. Hopefully, I'll be able to take more precautions with the real thing, come winter.
