great guess katherine! i picked up a prius last week and feel like i'm learning how to drive all over again. it's blue-tooth capable, using the radio speakers to talk on the phone, but i can't even use it because i have to concentrate on driving. certain things are missing because it's a company vehicle (there's a map button i keep pushing because i'm hoping it'll auto-activate someday). but check out the display. It tells you when you're using your gas engine and when you're using your electro-waterbased-motor so all I do is watch that while I drive to make sure I'm using the least amount of gas possible.
I drove 450 miles before the gas light came on the first time! And when gas is $4.06 around here, it amazes me that it's only $40 to refill the tank. The pacifica took $75 each time and I refilled at every 200 miles or so.
aren't they really quiet too? i was (of course i saw one there) taking my recycling, and i swear i thought the car was off, then it drove away.... i guess it was on the whole time. kinda scary. could be a spy car?!?!?!
dude, i TOTALLY thought about telling you today "hey les, you should post about your new car, i want to hear all about it" and BAM must be esp..here is the post! gas is at $3.45 here, highest i saw today was $3.59. will def. hit $4 by summer.
super quiet. i heard rumor of a group of runners throwing together a class action suit because they're getting nailed when going around a corner or cross a driveway.
yippee for your post! wanted to get the driving kinks out first? jack appreciated his first ride in an envio-friendly vehicle -- totally his future at 16 (we hope!). which will be in 2024. wow.
As others have already pointed out, one issue with the Prius is that it is so quiet that it has caused problems with people being hit because they simply didn't hear the car coming. Did anyone see this article? http://www.infozine.com/news/stories/op/storiesView/sid/27880/. So sad! Luckily, no one has died (yet). But this was also in the news for happening right by my family's house in Albany which was right by the awesome center for the blind where they train blind people to live and work independently. Someone in a prius hit another blind person. Yikes!
whoo hoo!!! i have driven one before... i can't say i'm in love with it... the dash takes a lot of getting used to and so do a few other things but my brother bought ones and absolutely loves it. dang, i'm a good guesser!!
