New found obsession.

I'm obsessed with cake stands. Not the prissy, old-lady ones, but the clean-lined ones with little detail in pure white or other pretty colors. The scalloped edges, varying heights, and just perfectly balanced yummies perched atop. Porcelain, milk-glass, ceramic. I look longingly at them in many-a store, running my fingers along every single one. And if I could, I'd replace everything in our apt with a cake stand.

leslie darling you're sounding a bit delusional. i'm guessing this flu has left you a bit out of it. while cake stands are glorious i don't think little hudson would like to sleep on one!

I'm obsessed with them, too! Dev sent us a perfectly white one with a v. cute edge for our wedding present -- we used it at Jackson's shower. I have about 5 - don't go collecting them, though, they are v. hard to store. Unless, of course, they become your TV stand and vanity...

I too felt a desparate need for a cake stand pre-Christmas when I had a party complete with plentiful goodies and nothing pretty to display them on. Fearing the storage issue, I found the ultimate mult-tasking cake stand:

true, it might be clear and not beautiful white with scallopped edges, but HELLO, it doubles as a punch bowl. how awesome is that? (And currently, I have the punchbowl part filled with lemons, on my coffee table as a centrepiece.).

As far as multitasking goes, this cake stand is IT. And only $14.99.

oh yes, i forgot to add that while the punchbowl is ok, to use it as a tiramisu and/or trifle dish is much prettier.

ok, now I'm finished.

deb - hilarious that my bloggin works its way into your brain like that!

dev - NO! we haven't! crazy.

sarah - i'm NOT crazy, dammit. they're pretty.

jen - wouldn't our hutch be so much prettier with cake stands than food stuffs?

amanda - i don't get it! help! explain! i just keep staring @ it. and thanks for the intro to L&Tcanada. that's just fun.

ooo... i have a multi-task stand, too. it's clear from pottery barn or williams-sonoma. it works as a bowl, too. good call on that one, i'll have to break it out and put some lemons in it, too!

les - yes, but can they fit? they're pretty large in diameter. maybe i need a refresher in your cabinetry. if they'll fit, then you may begin stocking up on your new obsession!!

i want one too, but our apt is too small to keep adding big things for the kitchen, so i put cupcakes on our thingy that cholds fruit, which is probably a cake stand, but i can't see it as that now.
