Happy Birthday, Hudson!!

Adoption Day 2007.

Oh, Hudson. How you have turned our lives upside down. We've gone through at least two big area rugs, 4 bathmats, innumerable dog toys, and packs upon packs of poop bags. Our friends have also endured your teething, barking, mess-making ways. Hudson, you have kept us up at night with your weirdo fear of the dishwasher (it can't attack you!!) and spontaneous vomit sessions that have us jumping from dead sleep to running for a plastic bag to catch the disgustingness. But through it all, we've learned nothing will waver your unconditional love + wet, puppy kisses. You have the highest level of excitement every time we walk in the door that makes all of the midnight walks, doggie day care funds, and ridiculous dollars we spend on more+more destructable treats totally worth it.

Summer 2007.

Two months old.

We have made such strong friendships with people because of you and your need to socialize with their canines; you've truly helped me identify true happiness. Who knew three to four dogs in our little apartment would make for my idea of the best weekend ever? So. Much.Fun. We now know many of our metropolitan neighbors regardless of the ease of anonymity in such a big city. It makes the neighborhood feel quaint, familiar, and most importantly, OURS. The folks at Sephora and the flower shoppe and the hardware store know you by name. They keep treats ready for you which forces me to buy lots of makeup, Jamie to buy lots of flowers, and for us to fake our way through various home improvements to hide the embarrasment of our incessantly begging dog.

First Christmukkah.

One year!

You have brought us closer as a couple. We have grown to understand our parenting differences and the compromises that come with being responsible for another living being. We have taken many more road trips because of you and the hike in airline fees for traveling with a pet; which inherently, gave us more time to sing ridiculous songs, listen to audiobooks together, and have extensive talks about the future. You have also helped us become closer to our own families. They too have pets who like to hang out with you, giving us lots of common ground for discussion. Thank you for that.

Holidays 2008.

We love you so much, little guy!! Can't wait to take more romps to the beach, hikes through parks, and to extend the amount of snuggle-time each and every night. We know how much you hate baths and will promise to try to reduce their frequency this year. Happy 2nd Birthday, dude.
