Best. Saturday. Ever.

No matter how many times I get myself to the Farmers Market @ the SF Ferry Building, I absolutely love it and am never bored. If you're ever planning a trip out here, you MUST schedule 4 hours to hang around this place! Never have I been around people so passionate about food and eating fresh and organic and sustainable and original items.

After the aforementioned bout with painful intestinal infection, I was a bit uncertain about being out of the house for hours on end, but energy is coming back gradually and I was enthusiastic about picking up fresh food and some sunshine! Michele (prince+molly's mom) picked me mid-morning and whisked me away to the heavenly/heavenly market...such a great friend.

And on the sick note...first of all, thanks for the well wishes! Secondly, I fully understand how complainey it sounds to b*tch about being in bed for a measly 2 weeks when friends are battling breast cancer and brain tumors and liver surgery and morning sickness and other much scarier things. Thank you all very much for indulging my little woes.

And now onto some sunshiney pics...hope they're successful in transferring some sunshine to you midwest + east coasters!

Ch-ch-ch-chia! All Fancy + Farmers Market Style.

Fave items I brought home:
  • Rosemary + Meyer Lemon Crusty Bread
  • Some Guanciale (pronounced "gwan-chee-ALL-lay") from Boccalone. Part of the fun was sitting at the bar and getting to know Mark, one of the owners, while watching them slice just HUGE chunks of the most delicious looking meats. And I'm not really that big of a meat fan!! ps. Guanciale is the fatty part of a pig's jowl...purchased in lieu of bacon to roast up my brussel sprouts!
  • Brussel SproutsCowgirl Creamery Great place to increase knowledge and experience with cheese!
  • Awesome cheeses from Cowgirl Creamery + a local woman from Petaluma (plus her husky 12yr old son who completely rocked my world. he taught us about goats!).
  • Pickled Green Beans from Happy Girl Kitchen Co which I could literally eat by the handful. Michele got two jars of bread+butter pickles and while I'm not typically a pickle fan (frequently ask for removal from sandwiches, etc), these were like freaking candy. Highly recommend.
And now, what to do with all that food?!?! Oh dear...make up for a 2 week fast and eat it all?
